It’s 9 o’ clock on a Monday morning. The weather outside is awful. It’s one of those days where the alarm jolts you out of your restful slumber and you groan because you can already feel the cold in your bones. The sun supposedly rose at 7:18 this morning, but I have yet to see it. It’s attempt to shine down is inhibited by the slate gray clouds encompassing the sky. It’s raining; that misty rainfall that somehow seems to float through the air. No matter what kind of umbrella you’re using today you’re going to get wet.

My office this morning consists of my coffee table, the edge of my sofa, and my MacBook Pro. I’ve positioned myself so that I can look out of my deck windows as I work. Every once and a while I’ll look up to see people slowly emerge from their homes and head to their cars. Everyone has the same look on their face: Another Monday at the office. Not for me though…

How Ya Doin’?

In an effort to find a better work-life balance I limited the amount of hours that I worked last week to 40. That was hard. Seeing as how I have been working 60 hours a week for the past several weeks I found myself with a lot of extra time on my hands. I spent that extra time doing things that I love, but have been neglecting. I went to the gym, I hung out with my family, and had a killer Halo 3 gaming session with my brother. I caught up on all of my TV shows and cleared out the DVR, and finally unpacked all of my boxes so I can now say that I’m completely moved into my apartment.

What Are You Working On?

I started working on a side project of mine that has been sitting on the back burner for quite some time. Given the nature of the project I prefer to keep the name and subject of it quiet until it’s ready for launch. It’s been a great tool for me to develop my knowledge in PHP and mySQL and I’m teaching myself how to build a membership website from scratch. I’m hitting stumbling blocks, but I attribute most of that to the fact that I’m still trying to move at 100 MPH, and am going to attempt to slow myself down some more this week.

Aside from that, I sent out a proposal for a local company looking to do some web development work. If I get the job, the payday will be enough to suffice me for another 2 months at least. I’m working on developing and strengthening my portfolio so that I can approach several other local businesses for web development work. It’s amazing how many companies near me have websites, but they look like they were made using Microsoft Frontpage 98.

Any Plans On Returning To Corporate America?

Returning to Corporate America is still an option. I have to admit that I miss making decisions for a company bigger than myself and the competitive spirit that goes along with working in Corporate America. I have been contacted by several companies looking for someone with my background, and all of the opportunities come with a larger salary and more team management capabilities than I was afforded in my previous position. I love working with the Internet, in particular Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and a couple of the offers would let me continue to do just that.

So What’s Next?

It’s still early on in my entrepreneurial endeavor and as of right now, I want to keep my options open.As for this week, Truebluetitan is going to get the lions share of my attention today, but I’ll also be updating my resume and replying to the job inquiries that are already in process. The rest of my week will be devoted to coding my membership site and Christmas shopping online. I’m happy, and that’s the important thing.
