I’m an avid subscriber of several websites. As a matter of fact, my RSS reader could probably stand to lose a couple of pounds. However, a couple of sites have earned their place:

John Chow and Shoemoney recently ran a contest to see who could have the largest amount of RSS Subscribers by October 30. Shoemoney beat out John Chow on the very last day, and boy was it a record finish. If you didn’t follow it, I suggest reading both sides of the story on their blogs.

Each site had several incentives to encourage would be users to sign up. Both were giving away a fantastic array of prizes and I was lucky enough to come away with one. A special thanks goes out to Shaun Carter for supplying the $25 gift card to Barnes & Noble that I won! In the end, it’s the new subscribes that really win. Each used very interesting tactics for increasing the amount of subscribers, and I think we can all learn a thing or two from this. If you haven’t signed up for their blogs I suggest you do it now!
