Who is Rob Schultz?

I am a 26 year old professional that is currently seeking a full-time employment opportunity within the Pittsburgh area. My qualifications are available for review here.

When I was 14, before companies like Coca Cola & Dell had staked their claim on the Internet, I was teaching computer/Internet classes. At 17, I founded my first start-up and have been working for myself in one fashion or another ever since.

Friends would describe me as someone who has a passion for life and works his butt off to get what he wants. Currently, I own a growing start-up company and can usually be found working remotely at a nearby Starbucks sipping a venti something-or-another. I'm on the verge of releasing some kick-ass web apps that might just put my partners and I on the map. The future holds a lot of uncertainties for me, but one thing continues to remain the same:

Truebluetitan is the driving force behind everything I do.

What is Truebluetitan?

Truebluetitan is more than a domain name or a combination of random words. Defined as "one of prodigious size, strength, and achievement with inflexible faith and integrity", Truebluetitan has become my guiding light, providing direction towards future goals. When I'm not designing websites or providing SEO and SEM consulting to clients I turn to Truebluetitan and document the trials and tribulations that I encounter on my never-ending quest to becoming an Internet Entrepreneur.

The website as you see it now is the seventh release of Truebluetitan, and I intend to use it to provide greater insight into my projects (the ones I'm allowed to talk about anyway) and dive into the details of what it takes to start your own business and nourish it's growth.

In my eyes, I haven't "made it" yet, and as such encourage all of you to lend your insight as I travel down this path. I could certainly use some help from time to time!

Why Stick Around?

Truebluetitan is here to be a motivator for me, and for you. I know that there are a lot of people out there that want to start their own business, but are afraid to take the leap. There is, and always will be something, that is holding you back from taking the ever important first step. I jumped into the entrepreneurial waters with feet first and have learned a lot of lessons the hard way, but I'm still here. I haven't drowned, and I won't. Neither will you.

I’m a motivational pack rat. I find snippets of things online that inspire me and I hold on to them, referring back whenever I feel weak or question my journey as an Internet entrepreneur. Even as I type this I am drinking coffee out of a mug that reads “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined.” ~Thoreau

Every once in a while I stumble upon a piece of motivation that is so great, so wonderful, that I keep coming back to it. I can’t stop telling people about it. In short, it changes my life. One person that has done just that is Dr. Randy Pausch, a former professor of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. In late-September, I wrote an article, Dr. Pausch teaches what matters most about his speech, Achieving Your Childhood Dreams, given on September 18, 2008. I have attached his presentation below, and if you have not had the opportunity to watch it yet, then I strongly urge you to set aside some time in the very near future to do so. Since being published on Youtube it has had well over 6 million views (many of those from me) and has caught the attention of the media.

Unfortunatley, Dr. Pausch died a little over a week ago, on July 25, 2008. But his legacy lives on in the form of a loving wife, 3 beautiful kids, and a wonderful book titled The Last Lecture. Shortly after it’s release I bought two copies, one for myself and the other to pass along to friends and family, and everyone that has read it raves about the content within; several family members bought their own copy shortly after reading mine.

The Last Lecture

As a tribute to Dr. Pausch’s life, I purchased 5 copies of his book purely with the intent of spreading his inspiring outlook on life, and I want to give them away to you, my readers. Now, I’m not entirely sure how I should go about giving them away so I’m looking for your feedback, and if the interest is high then I’ll gladly buy 5 more copies, giving away 10 copies of The Last Lecture. I need your feedback: how should I give away these books? Should I ask that you write a blog post about Dr. Pausch or what motivates you? I don’t know. What I do know is that I want it to be something special, so please leave your feedback in the comments section below and I’ll make a decision within the next week.

Hi Rob,

I guess we’re on the same tip. I’ve discovered The Last Lecture almost a year ago, and I was excited by his positivity and ability to overcome the state he ended up with even though he’s not someone who had to fight adversities throughout his life so he wasn’t really “prepared” (as if there’s a method to get prepared to die early in life). The only problems he was facing during his life were the challenges and goals he set for himself and I admire him even more for that fact alone. Indeed, he was giving in and he kept chasing his childhood dreams.

I’ve been passing the link to prof. Pausch’s Last Lecture around. Without an exception, everyone was mesmerized and saddened.

I wish him R.I.P. His legacy of a dedicated person will continue to live in each of us who experienced his lectures in one way or another. He will be not be forgotten!

Hey Rob,

Along with Shonzilla and you I’m a huge fan of motivational things. I’m going to keep it sweet and short as far as suggestions go… I think you should ask the readers to write a nonfictional story about how they’ve been motivated or inspired. I don’t know about the whole blog post thing, cause I currently don’t have my blog up. :P But to keep things fair and equal how about just writing it in comments.

Mr. Rob,

I get it now, how inspiration can inspire you. i have caught bits and pieces of info about Randy, on Oprah where he was given the opportunity to share his lecture during the show. At that time you hoped he would never die as i did. I knew then It is well with his heart and soul. His story is incredible. One the entire world could never forget.

I read a lot of motivational stuff but I came across Dr. Pausch only now. I surfed the web looking for previews about the book and I think it’s all worth it to have a copy.

I’m now looking at our local bookstores if they have a copy. Hopefully, they do.

Thanks for sharing your bits about Dr. Pausch and opening me to a whole new world of his work.

The book sounds interesting and I was wondering if you were still going to be giving them away. I would love a chance to win a copy of it. I generally am not a fan of inspirational readings but I was watching a bit of his speech and would like to read his book.
