Continuing education is an important part of my personal development. That's why I've decided to make obtaining a PMP certification my first Intrapreneur project.

I’m Certifiable

Last year around this time I was knee-deep in job searches. Monster, Careerbuilder, and Dice were the first three Web sites that I went to every morning. I was looking for a position with responsibilities mirroring those that I had when I was at IMPAQT as a Search Account Manager. However, a fairly common prerequisite for positions of this type was that I needed to have my PMP (Project Management Professional) certification already. As luck would have it, I was able to land a great job without the certification, but the desire for that certification has never left my mind. That’s why, I’m making it the first Intrapreneurial goal on Truebluetitan.

What Will A PMP Do For You?

The certification is geared towards those that direct cross-functional teams to deliver projects within the constraints of schedule, budget, and scope. My current role within my organization is that of a Business Analyst and there is a professional Business Analyst certification out there, but I aspire for more. As I grow within the organization learn it’s unique intricacies, I hope to be able to expand my responsibilities to include those outlined above. I feel that the PMP will help to validate my knowledge and hopefully I’ll pick up a couple of tidbits here and there as I study for the certification.

When Do You Take The Test?

I’m still in the early stages of researching the certification, but with a lot of studying I’m betting that I’ll be able to obtain the certification before the end of June. As I dive into my studies and learn more about becoming a PMP I’ll update this section, so stay tuned.

Do you have your PMP? Do you think that it’s even worth it for an Entrepreneur? Let’s hear your opinion.

The Truebluetitan has rejoined Corporate America. In this post we look at what Rob Schultz has been up to, and where he's going next.

It’s been nearly two months since Truebluetitan has had an update grace it’s pages, and that’s for a very good reason. You see, I’ve always approached this blog with the mindset of “make money first, blog about it second”, and I’ve been doing just that. Shortly after my last post, I was approached with several tantalizing offers to rejoin Corporate America, and spent the last few weeks of April interviewing with project managers, customer relations directors, and CFOs around the Pittsburgh area. It took a lot of soul searching, but I am proud to announce that I have joined CIBER, Inc. as a Business Analyst.

My Role with CIBER

CIBER is a publicly held International organization that specializes in providing large corporations with specialized IT support. As a Business Analyst, I bring my in-depth knowledge of various Content Management Systems and Portal applications to the table. Combined with my previous project management experience in organizations of all sizes I aim to become a very valuable asset to their Pittsburgh division.

I’ve been a member of the CIBER family for a little over a month now and can honestly say that it feels very good to be a part of an organization again. I’m having a seemingly impossible time adjusting to the 5:45 A.M. wake-up time, but I love the ability to work on large scale projects and interact with intelligent like-minded co-workers.

What Becomes of the Internet Entrepreneur?

Now I know that many of the entrepreneurs subscribed to my RSS feed are probably reaching for the unsubscribe button, but I politely ask that you hang around for a while. It’s a little uncommon to make the transition from entrepreneur to employee again, but if you meet me in person I’m sure that you would agree that there’s nothing common about me.

My Internet Entrepreneur journey isn’t over. I’m just taking a different route than originally intended. Several of the projects that I have been working on are nearing completion and their launch will soon be showcased on this site. In the meantime, I’ve been networking with some incredible talent and am joining forces to make my newest projects top-notch.

To all that have stuck around, I thank you for your patience and encouragement through personal emails. To those of you that are visiting Truebluetitan for the first time, stick around, you’re about to see some seriously cool stuff!
